The Liminal Altar is a departure from traditional altar forms — an exploration of space, openness, and transition.
Handbuilt in a porous, sculptural network, this altar is defined as much by what is absent as what remains. Its organic openings create a sense of movement and breath, allowing light, shadow, and air to pass through the form. It exists between solidity and openness, making it a powerful vessel for moments of change, reflection, and becoming.
Designed to be both wall-mounted or displayed on a tabletop, this altar invites flexibility in how it lives within a space. Hung on the wall, it becomes a quiet architectural presence — a marker, a portal, a visual meditation. Placed on a surface, it reads as a sculptural altar, grounding ritual objects, candles, or symbolic offerings while still maintaining a sense of lightness and flow.
Each opening can hold intention: a place to thread meaning, memory, or ritual through rather than contain it. This altar is ideal for those drawn to nontraditional practices, evolving rituals, and sacred spaces that resist fixed form.
